The project “Water Cultures” is organizing a section within the framework of the 84th International Scientific Conference of the University of Latvia, which will take place on April 15, 2026, from 11:00 to 17:00.

In the section “Hydrosocial Approaches in Water Research and Governance”, the project’s research results will be presented. The section is organized in collaboration with the environmental humanities section “Nature and Society in an Interdisciplinary Perspective.”

The section programme includes several thematic panels covering the materiality of hydrosocial processes, practices and policies, as well as relationships between water and society in a broader cultural and historical context. In addition to water-related topics, the programme also features presentations on the history of ideas, ethics, art, and human–environment relations.
